A daily sincere assessment of your love walk puts you daily on a higher level of righteous, peace and joy in the Holy Ghost. And the best way to do so is by comparing it with the description of love as stated in 1 Corinthians 13:4-8, which I call the love balance. This balance gives you the true picture of where you stand in your walk of love. This article tells you how to assess your love walk. Examine and test and evaluate your own selves to see whether you are holding to your faith and showing the proper fruits of it... - 2 Corinthians 13:5 (AMP)Therefore let anyone who thinks he stands [who feels sure that he has a steadfast mind and is standing firm], take heed lest he fall [into sin] - 1 Corinthians 10:12 (AMP)
If you have made the love of God your quest, then there is need for you to evaluate how you are doing daily, lest you fall. A daily assessment with love balance will appraise your performance for the day, correct and give you instruction on how to do better next time, 2 Timothy 3:16.
The love balance - 1 Corinthians 13:4-8
Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away.
The above scripture defines the love of God and so can be used to determine the level of your love walk with God. When you use it as your standard you will not miss it, instead you will grow from glory to glory, 2 Corinthians 3:18.
How to use the love balance to assess and build your walk of love daily
Read and meditate on it in the morningThe word of God is likened to medicine (Proverbs 4:20-22) and so when you take it, it goes in to attack anything that ought not to be within you and restore you to your healthy state, whether spiritual, physical or otherwise. When you read and meditate on 1 Corinthians 13:4-8, your spirit is empowered to fight any emotion or thought that will try to hinder you from walking in love. The Holy Spirit will remind you of the scripture when the opportunity to walk in love comes. You will be faced with the challenge to practice the scripture or ignore it. If you obey it, then you will find it easier to obey it next time, taking you to a higher walk with God.
Meditate on it throughout the dayAllow your mind to ponder on the love balance anytime you can throughout the day. This is because faith in that scripture comes by hearing and hearing (understanding) it over and over again. Mediation throughout the day affords you the opportunity to hear it over and over again. And the more you believe in the scripture, the easier it becomes for you to practice it.
Read it again and assess your love walk at the end of the dayWhen you are done for the day, read 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 again and assess your performance based on it for the day. A sincere assessment will determine your performance for the next day.Where you missed it, ask God for forgiveness and receive grace to do better next time. Don't reprimand yourself beyond measure, you are learning and growing and will surely get there. Ask for the help of the Holy Spirit; remember it is not by might nor by power but by God's Spirit, Zechariah 4:6.
I tell you, a consistent practice of the above steps will turn you into a new person with whom God will be well pleased. You will be flowing in righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Ghost, Romans 14:17, and you will find favour before God and man. So make the love of God your quest today if you haven't done so.
