‘In order to continue installation, please close the following application: iTunes’.
It seems a bug is affecting the Xcode 4.1 installer on Mac OSX 10.7 Lion. It may affect other versions also. The installer is reporting that iTunes needs to be closed even though it already is.
This is being caused by the iTunes Helper app that is running in the background.
Here’s how to resolve it.
If you’re not familiar with Activity Console, it’s a Mac system utility using for monitoring open applications. It can also forcibly close apps with relative ease.
Launch Activity Monitor by clicking Spotlight (magnifying glass in the top right corner of your screen) and typing Activity…hit Enter when Activity Monitor app is highlighted. When Activity Monitor opens, sort the list of apps by name by clicking the Process Name column.Locate the process called iTunes Helper, highlight it in the list and click the Quit Process button.Click Quit to confirm. After a few seconds the Xcode installer should continue automatically. This post was made using the Auto Blogging Software from WebMagnates.org This line will not appear when posts are made after activating the software to full version.
