In the month of October, our long-term 2014 Chevrolet Silverado spun an additional 2,137 miles onto its odometer and consumed 124.5 gallons of 87-octane fuel. That equates to 17.2 miles per gallon for the month, which is just a hair less than its lifetime average of 17.3 mpg.

These results so far are less than the truck's EPA combined rating of 19 mpg.

Just the Facts:For the 2013 SEMA show, Chevrolet builds a real-life version of the 2014 Corvette that appears in the Gran Turismo 6 video game.Modifications for the Corvette Stingray Gran Turismo are limited to exterior and interior appearance components.Changes include custom paint and grille and a ground-effects kit with carbon-fiber elements.

LAS VEGAS — Video games come alive at the 2013 SEMA show in the form of Chevrolet's Corvette Stingray Gran Turismo concept, an appearance-modded version of the all-new 2014 Corvette Stingray that celebrates the 15th anniversary of the iconic Gran Turismo racing video game.

The most notable changes for the Stingray Gran Turismo concept include ground-effects bodywork enhancement with carbon-fiber elements, a carbon-fiber rear wing and for some reason, yellow-tinted headlights. The car also wears customized versions of the 2014 Stingray's front fender and rear quarter-panel vents and a "racing style" front tow hook.

Inside, the Corvette Stingray Gran Turismo concept has unique trim for its competition sport seats, racing harnesses and a custom flat-bottom steering wheel.

Just the Facts:The Jeff Gordon Chevrolet SS performance sedan concept brings a little NASCAR spice to the 2013 SEMA Show.Details include a satin exterior finish with No. 24 graphics and custom 20-inch wheels.The car also gets a lowered suspension and high-performance brakes.

LAS VEGAS — Jeff Gordon may be out of title contention with just two races remaining in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, but he may have a winner at the 2013 SEMA Show with the Jeff Gordon Chevrolet SS performance sedan concept.

Chevrolet said it created the concept "with input from the No. 24 driver himself." The automaker said the car was created to reflect Gordon's style and the performance credentials of the SS.

Details include a satin exterior finish with No. 24 graphics and custom 20-inch wheels. The car also gets a carbon-fiber rear spoiler and a custom front grille.

The Gordon SS performance sedan concept casts a more aggressive stance with a lowered suspension. The car also features high-performance brakes and a Borla performance exhaust system. The interior is customized with perforated suede seat inserts and embroidered headrests, a racing-style flat-bottom steering wheel and a Chevrolet Accessories pedal kit.

The concept retains the production car's LS3 6.2L V8 rated at 415 horsepower and 415 pound-feet of torque. It is backed by a six-speed automatic transmission with TAPShift manual-shifting capability.

Just the Facts:The Chevrolet Camaro is the most popular "sporty" car among thieves, followed by the Ford Mustang and the Dodge Challenger, according to a new study by the National Insurance Crime Bureau.The Chevrolet Corvette came in at No. 6 on the top-10 list behind the Porsche Panamera and the Audi A5/S5.The Volkswagen Eos took the last spot on the list.

DES PLAINES, Illinois — Three American car brands hold the dubious distinction of being the most stolen "sporty" cars in the United States. The Chevrolet Camaro is the most popular among thieves, followed by the Ford Mustang and the Dodge Challenger, a new study by the National Insurance Crime Bureau reveals.

The study focused on sporty cars from the 2010-'12 model years.

The Camaro came in first with 1,509 reported thefts. Mustang followed with 980 thefts and Challenger took 3rd place with 782 thefts.

Surprisingly, the Chevrolet Corvette came in at No. 6 on the top-10 list behind the Porsche Panamera and the Audi A5/S5.

Thieves also targeted the Nissan 370Z, BMW 6 Series, Porsche 911 and Volkswagen Eos, the study said.

California had the most sporty vehicle thefts, followed by Florida and Texas. New York, Los Angeles and Detroit are the top three cities for unrecovered stolen vehicles.

Our Chevrolet Silverado and all 2014 Silverados with crew or extended cabins have easy access rear seat top tether anchors for child seats. They are basically rubber-covered wire loops. Not every extended length Cab truck I've driven in the past five years (Raptor, that means you) has offered easy access tether like this.

Just the Facts:General Motors is recalling 18,941 2013-'14 Chevrolet Camaros because the airbag warning label on the sun visor may peel off.GM said a "stop delivery" was issued to dealers on September 19.GM will provide instructions to owners on how to inspect the visor sticker.

WASHINGTON — General Motors is recalling 18,941 2013-'14 Chevrolet Camaros because the airbag warning label on the sun visor may peel off, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

"In the affected vehicles, the required airbag warning label on the sun visor may peel off," said NHTSA in its summary of the problem. "Thus, these vehicles fail to comply to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 208 'Occupant Crash Protection.' If the airbag warning label detaches from the visor, the driver and front seat passenger may not be warned of the risks of airbag deployment, increasing the risk of injury in the event of a crash."

GM said a "stop delivery" order was issued to dealers on September 19. The recall began on October. 28.

The affected vehicles were built from June 9, 2013 through September 6, 2013.Chevrolet dealers will inspect the label on each of the sun visors for proper adhesion. If required, the sun visor will be replaced.

"Because this inspection can easily be performed by the customer, and to reduce inconvenience, an inspection procedure will be provided with the customer letter," said GM.

If customers are uncomfortable performing the inspection or if the label has fallen off or started to peel, GM says the car should be brought to the dealership.

Just the Facts:The 2013 SEMA show's Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Coupe Pacific concept car aims for a "West Coast" racing look, but backs it up with some serious track-oriented hardware.A carbon-fiber hood and roof panel, upgraded brakes and cooling and unique track-focused gearing all are part of the Corvette Stingray Coupe Pacific concept's modifications.Pieces from the Chevrolet Accessories catalog include staggered-size black satin racing wheels.

LAS VEGAS — Chevrolet revealed at the 2013 SEMA show here today the Corvette Stingray Coupe Pacific concept that it said is "influenced by West Coast culture" (whatever that is) and is heavily modified in both hardware and appearance.

Torch Red paint howls for attention, but the Stingray Coupe Pacific's black carbon-fiber removable roof panel was manufactured with a visible weave to help demonstrate this concept car is about substance to equal its race-ready appearance.

Since it's based on the Stingray's racing-inspired Z/51 performance package, the Coupe Pacific Concept's 6.2-liter small-block V8 is oiled by dry sump and the cooling system is enhanced. So, too, are the Coupe Pacific Concept's brakes, while the seven-speed manual transmission gets unique gearing and the transaxle features an electronic limited-slip differential.

Inside, there's carbon-fiber trim (did you expect anything else?), competition sport seats and a flat-bottom steering wheel in carbon-fiber finish.

The special black satin racing alloys have a red stripe to complement the body color and are staggered size: 19-inchers that are 8.5 inches wide in the front, while 20-by-10-inch wheels are fitted at the rear.

Edmunds says: The Stingray Coupe Pacific concept may be overt-looking in the expected SEMA fashion, but it's largely the same hardware you can get from any Chevy showroom.
